| The Red Wing Stoneware Company was
organized February 1, 1877, to manufacture stoneware. By August of 1878,
the company was gaining notice as a producer of "useful" and
"beautiful" wares. After several renditions and mergers, in
1906 the Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. was formed. Art pottery and
dinnerware became more representative than "stoneware", and in
1936 the name was changed to Red Wing Potteries. In 1967, Red Wind
Potteries closed its' production facilities; in 1984, Red Wing Stoneware
Co. was revitalized, and is now manufacturing to meet the growing demand
for quality American made products. |
